It’s Supernatural Day! The last one before the show’s series finale. While many of the people that don’t watch the show think that it’s only about ghost and demos the SPN Family know it’s much more than that.
To celebrate Supernatural day, here are a few lessons I learned that prove Supernatural is much more than a ghost show.
REVENGE IS NEVER A GOOD IDEA
The show started with John Winchester’s plan for revenge against the yellow eyes demon. Ever since that moment the only thing that comes out of every plan for revenge is problems.
FAMILY DOESN’T END WITH BLOOD
Since the pilot episode, it’s clear that Family was the heart and soul of the show. 15 season later still is, but the Winchester family is much more than blood relatives is about the friends they met along the road and the family they built.
YOUR DESTINY WILL ALWAYS FIND HIS WAY
If it’s meant to be it will find you, no matter how much you try to avoid it. Sam left for college determined to live a normal life and quit the family business, but little did he know destiny wanted him to save people and hunt things.
BASICALLY THE WINCHESTERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ERASING EVERY URBAN LEGEND IN HISTORY
In 15 seasons The Winchester’s has hunted, La Llorona, Candy Man, El Cuco, The Hook Man and pretty much every scary story you heard as a kid.
NOT ALL MONSTERS ARE EVIL AND NOT ALL ANGELS ARE GOOD
I’m not going to get into details in this one, I don’t want to spoil, but just know that sometimes vampires and witches are on your side and angels are evil.
IT’S OK TO ASK FOR HELP (EVEN SUPERMAN NEEDS IT SOMETIMES)
Don’t ever be afraid to say I can’t do this alone. It’s not a sign of weakness is a sign of strength. Certainly, Sam and Dean wouldn’t have stopped the apocalypse alone.
THE BOND BETWEEN BROTHERS CAN SURVIVE EVERYTHING (YES EVEN THE APOCALYPSE)
Let’s be honest, the love between these two sometimes makes them do stupid things in pretty much all the seasons. But it’s also the glue that holds the show together but as long as it did.
YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE UNLESS YOU ARE A WINCHESTER
Sam and Dean have died a total of 117 times during 15 seasons.
TEAM FREE WILL – NEVER LET ANYONE TELL YOU WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DO FIND YOUR DESTINY
Always Team Free Will. Don’t let anyone tell you what you have to be or what you have to do. Nobody knows that better than you, even if sometimes it’s hard to see the answer is there, you just need to open your eyes.
IN THE END, WE ONLY HAVE FAMILY
No matter who they have to fight, demons, angels, witches, vampires, leviathans and even God himself their family bond was the strength they needed to survive.
BE THE CHANGE. IT ALL START WITH YOU
If you want to see change you have to make an example out of yourself.
PREPARE TO MAKE SACRIFICES
The show is always about sacrifices, whatever they have to do to save the world they will do it. Even if that requires a big sacrifice. Sometimes we just have to give up some things for the greater good.
NO ONE IS DEAD IF YOU CHOOSE TO KEEP THE MEMORIES ALIVE
We have seen beloved characters died, but something that this show has is that nobody is dead, sometimes they come back to live, sometimes they are alive on their memories.
KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE AND YOUR ENEMIES CLOSER
Maybe life will surprise you and you’ll find out they weren’t your enemies after all.
HOME IS WHERE EVER YOU WANT IT TO BE
Sam and Dean didn’t have and actual home till very late on the series, they live in motels from all across the US. But they never needed it, as long as they have each other every place felt like home.
