Emmy Predictions 2020: Who will win this Sunday?

The Superbowl of the TV Junkies is this Sunday, and what kind of tv junkie will I be if I don’t share my predictions for the Emmy Awards 2020.

It’s been a tough year for all of us and the television industry is no stranger to that. Seasons cut short, production shutdowns, unexpected cancellations have impacted film production all around the world. But the Emmy Awards are proof that we have amazing shows and performances.

It’s time to activate the Crystal Ball and predict who will win the awards. It Looks like it’s going to be Schitt’s Creek and Succession’s night. Keep reading

to see my predictions for the 2020 Primetime Emmys.

Who Will Win 💎 Nati’s Pick 📺

Outstanding Comedy Series

This category is between insecure and Schitt’s Creek, but keeping in mind that it’s the last time Schitt’s Creek is eligible for nominations it probably will win.

Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO)

Dead To Me (Netflix)

Insecure (Netflix)

Schitt’s Creek (Pop TV) 💎 📺

The Good Place (NBC)

The Kominsky Method (Netflix)

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Prime Video)

What We Do In The Shadows (FX Networks)

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series

Ted Danson has been waiting for his whole career to win and if my predictions are correct he will need to keep waiting. That award is going to Eugene Levy.

Don Cheadle – Black Monday

Anthony Anderson – Black-ish

Ramy Youssef – Ramy

Eugene Levy – Schitt’s Creek 💎 📺

Ted Danson – The Good Place

Michael Douglas – The Kominsky Method

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series

Issa Rae for sure deserves an Emmy and maybe this category can surprise us because all signs point for Catherine O’Hara to take the award

Tracee Ellis Ross – Black-ish

Christina Applegate – Dead To Me

Linda Cardellini – Dead To Me

Issa Rae – Insecure

Catherine O’Hara – Schitt’s Creek 💎 📺

Rachel Brosnahan – The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series

I predict Tony Shalhoub will win this year, there is a possibility that with all the attention Schitt’s Creek got this year Daniel Levy could win.

Andre Braugher – Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Mahershala Ali – Ramy

Kenan Thompson – Saturday Night Live

Daniel Levy – Schitt’s Creek 📺

William Jackson Harper – The Good Place

Alan Arkin – The Kominsky Method

Tony Shalhoub – The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel 💎

Sterling K. Brown as Reggie – The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series

All of these women are very talented but I only can see Alex Borstein winning.

Betty Gilpin – Glow

Yvonne Orji – Insecure

Kate McKinnon – Saturday Night Live

Cecily Strong – Saturday Night Live

Annie Murphy – Schitt’s Creek

D’Arcy Caren – The Good Place

Alex Borstein – The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel 💎 📺

Marin Hinkle – The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Outstanding Drama Series

Outstanding Drama Series

I’m still mad that The Morning Show didn’t get a nomination, but besides that, this category is really difficult to predict. For me, The Crown or Stranger Things deserve the win but for sure Succession will be the winner.

Better Call Saul (AMC)

Killing Eve (BBC America)

Ozark (Netflix)

Stranger Things (Netflix)

Succession (HBO) 💎

The Crown (Netflix) 📺

The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu)

The Mandalorian (Disney +)

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series

Another category that is tough to predict. Steve Carell’s performance in The Morning Show is my favorite of all of them. Because I think Succession is going to win BIG I’m going to go with Jeremey Strong winning over Brian Cox. Split votes can prevent either of them winning in that case Steve Carell might have a shot.

Jason Bateman – Ozark

Bill Porter – Pose

Brian Cox – Succession

Jeremy Strong – Succession 💎

Steve Carell – The Morning Show 📺

Sterling K. Brown – This is Us

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series

It’s great to see Zendaya nominated in this category but she will need to wait for another nomination to win. For sure Jennifer Aniston will take the award, her performance in The Morning Show was one of the best of her career.

Zendaya – Euphoria

Sandra Oh – Killing Eve

Jodie Comer – Killing Eve

Laura Linney – Ozark

Olivia Coleman – The Crown

Jennifer Aniston – The Morning Show 💎 📺

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series

Bradley Whitford is going to win. His performance on The Handmaid’s Tale is one of the reasons I still watch that show.

Giancarlos Esposito – Better Call Saul

Kieran Culkin – Succession

Matthew Macfadyen – Succession

Nicholas Braun – Succession

Bradley Whitford – The Handmaid’s Tale 💎 📺

Mark Duplass – The Morning Show

Billy Crudup – The Morning Show

Jeffrey Wright – Westworld

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series

All of these women deserve the nomination, but my gut is telling me Helena Bonham Carter is taking home the award, her performance as the rebel princess Margaret is perfection.

Meryl Streep – Big Little Lies

Laura Dern – Big Little Lies

Fiona Shaw – Killing Eve

Julie Garner – Ozark

Sarah Snook – Succession

Helena Bonham Carter – The Crown 💎 📺

Samira Wiley – The Handmaid’s Tale

Thandie Newton – Westworld

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Limited Series Or Movie

Hugh Jackman is one of the favorites to win this category. I’m going to go with Mark Ruffalo, in the end, is not that easy playing to twin brothers.

Hugh Jackman – Bad Education

Mark Ruffalo – I Know This Much Is True 💎 📺

Paul Mercal – Normal People

Jeremy Irons – Watchmen

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Limited Series Or Movie

Lead Actress Limited Series or TV Movie

Another tough category, Octavia Spencer, Cate Blanchett, and Kerry Washington delivered incredible performances, I will be happy with any of them winning. With all these in mind, my pick is Regina King, as the lead on one of the most critical acclaim series of 2020 is almost a sure bet she will take the award.

Kerry Washington – Little Fires Everywhere

Cate Blanchett – Mrs. America 📺

Octavia Spencer – Self Made

Shira Haas – Unorthodox

Regina King – Watchmen 💎

Outstanding Television Movie

Not much to think about on this one. Bad Education It Is!

 American Son (Netflix)

Bad Education (HBO) 💎 📺

Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings: These Old Bones (Netflix)

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (Netflix)

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs The Reverend (Netflix)

Outstanding Limited Series

My heart is with Little Fire Everywhere, but the voters for sure will go with Watchmen.

Little Fires Everywhere (Hulu) 📺

Mrs. America (FX Networks)

Unbelievable (Netflix)

Unorthodox (Netflix)

Watchmen (HBO) 💎

Supporting Actress, Limited Series or Movie

Jean Smart’s performance was one of my favorite things from Watchmen. Hoping the votes think the same way.

Uzo Aduba, Mrs. America

Toni Collette, Unbelievable

Margo Martindale, Mrs. America

Jean Smart, Watchmen 💎 📺

Holland Taylor, Hollywood

Tracey Ullman, Mrs. America

Supporting Actor, Limited Series or Movie

I’m going to start this prediction saying that I’m might be biassed in this category. I’m a huge fan of Jim Parsons and he’s going to be my pick. But the reality is that Louis Gosset Jr. or Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will win this category.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II – Watchmen 💎

Jovan Adepo – Watchmen

Tituss Burgess –  Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy Vs.
the Reverend

Louis Gossett, Jr. – Watchmen

Dylan McDermott – Hollywood

Jim Parsons – Hollywood 📺
