GOSSIP GIRL THE ORIGINAL
One of the CW’s most successful shows. Gossip Girl Originally aired from 2007 to 2012. The show’s focus on Manhattans Elite has inspired many shows like Riverdale and Elite and launched the career of Blake Lively, Chase Crawford, Ed Westwick, Leighton Meester, and Netflix’s favorite stalker Penn Bagley aka Joe Goldberg.
GOSSIP GIRL THE REBOOT
The reboot is set to premiere the 10 episodes first season on HBO Max next July.
The streaming service describes it as:
“Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The prestige series will address just how much social media—and the landscape of New York itself—has changed in the intervening years.”
Now that we have a little bit of history of both shows let’s discuss what we know so far about the new Gossip Girl.
THE ORIGINAL VERSION STILL EXIST ON THIS VERSION
While non-appearances by the original cast have been confirmed yet, the iconic characters will be present in this version. Blair, Serena, Nate, Dan, and Chuck are not going to be erased from the story, their legacy and connection to Gossip Girl will remain.
KRISTEN BELL IS REPRISING HER ROLE AS THE VOICE OF GOSSIP GIRL
Expect the iconic phrase “You know you love me, XOXO Gossip Girl”.
EXPECT DIVERSITY AND CHANGES IN THE ORIGINAL STORY
The original main cast ensemble consisted of only white actors, on this version we can expect a lot of changes to be more atone with the times, we can expect diversity and not only with nonwhite actors on the main cast but also with a lot more representation of the LGBTQ community.
GOSSIP GIRL IS EXPANDING
Of course, Gossip Girl will not only be just a blog, it will be a whole social media platform. And with this, I can predict that there’s not going to be just one GG, I bet we can all be part of the movement if we want to with the way technology has grown since 2012.
ONE PLOT SECRET TWIST
An important plot twist is going to happen, possibly to be revealed in the pilot episode. We do know the Character of Kate is involved in that twist and it might be about Gossip Girl or maybe about one original character, or maybe both. Who knows.

MEET THE CHARACTERS
Zoya (THE OUTSIDER)
Played by Whitney Peak, is safe to say that she will be the new Dan Humphrey.
Audrey (THE NEW BLAIRE)
Played by Emily Alyn Lind, Audrey is the blonde version of Blaire Waldorf, her mom is a fashion designer, she’s in a long-time relationship with her high school sweetheart, she loves old movies and Audrey Hepburn. Do I need to say more??? Mayor Blaire vibes.
Aki (The Perfect Boyfriend)
Played by Evan Mock. While there’s no much description of this character yet, we can assume he is a Nate type of character. This because he is Audrey’s long-time boyfriend.
Julien (The Influencer)
Played by Jordan Alexander, A teen Influencer and Audrey’s best friend. Do I need to say she’s the new Serena? By the time the original series was on instead of an influencer, Serena was a Socialite.
Max (The Party Boy)
Played by Thomas Doherty the character is described as a party boy with no morals, any resemblance with Chuck Bass is just a coincidence, right?
Obie (The Nobel Rich Boy)
Maybe he’s a little bit of Nate Archibald? After all, he was the only one who didn’t send a tip to Gossip Girl after all.
Luna (The Stylish)
Played by transgender Mexican-American actress Zion Moreno, not much is said about this character only that she brings the style to the group, which sounds a little bit like a Jenny Humphrey type of character.
Monet (The Powerful)
Played by Savannah Smith, the only thing is known about this character is that she’s the one who has the power.
Kate Keller (The Ambitious)
Played by Tavi Gevinson, much is unknown about this character and this has to do with the fact that she’s part of the secret plot twits, is the related to one of the powerful families??
